TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

Here are some ideas if you find a problem. Look under the type of mouse that you have.

Stealth 3D Mouse

This is the original type of mouse. It is now called U-Type.

Stealth E-Type (S1-E, S2-E, S3-E, HW-E)

  1. Power - If there is no red light under the mouse, check the power supply.
  2. Configuration - Check the application software to make sure the correct input device is selected. If unsure, select Immersion SoftMouse ™, or Immersion Interface Box™. For Z/I applications, disable the Z/I devices as follows:
  1. Permission - Some application software will recognize the mouse only if the user is the Administrator, or if the Administrator gives permission.
  2. Port Conflict, Error - Check for conflicts and Errors on the Comm Port. In Windows, go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Ports, and look for any problem.
  3. Interference - If a driver is using the port for another device, it will interfere. Look in Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs for such a driver. For example, Microsoft Fax Program, modem drivers and WinTAB drivers can interfere. Do not remove the driver until making sure it is not needed for some other use.

Stealth S-Type (S1-S, S2-S, S3-S, HW-S)

  1. Power - If there is no red light under the mouse, check the power supply.
  2. Configuration - Check the application software to make sure the correct input device is selected.
  3. Permission - Some application software will recognize the mouse only if the user is the Administrator, or if the Administrator gives permission.
  4. Port Conflict, Error - Check for conflicts and Errors on the Comm Port. In Windows, go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Ports, and look for problems.
  5. Interference - If a driver is using the port for another device, it will interfere. Look in Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs for such a driver. For example, Microsoft Fax Program, modem drivers, WinTAB driver. Do not remove the driver until making sure it is not needed for some other use.

Stealth U-Type (S1-U, S2-U, S3-U)

  1. Power - If there is no red light under the mouse, make sure the usb port is an active port. Do not plug into a bus-powered hub. Such hubs do not have enough power for the mouse.
  2. Configuration - This mouse is compatible with a system mouse. It should work even in Windows. Be sure to select the correct type of mouse in the application configuration.
  3. Port Conflict, Error - Check for conflicts and Errors on the Comm Port. In Windows, go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Mice, and look for any problem.

Stealth V-Type (S1-V, S2-V, S3-V, HW-V)

  1. Installation - This mouse contains a USB to Serial (COM port) converter. The mouse should automatically add a new COM port when plugged into a Windows computer. If you are prompted for a driver, then download the V-Mouse Driver from our web site www.Stealth3dMouse.com. Click on "Drivers" to go to the driver page. After unzipping the driver to a temporary directory, point the play-and-play feature of Windows to the driver directory.
  2. Configuration - Find the COM port number that was created when the mouse was installed. Look in the Windows Device Manager at Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Ports. Double Click on the USB Serial Port. Configure your application match the COM port number shown. Also, configure the Baud Rate of the COM port to match your application. Both the COM port and the Baud Rate must match.
  3. Advanced Configuration - Your application may only accept COM 1 as the communication port, but the Device Manager may show the USB Serial Port to be COM 2 or COM 3. In that case, click the "Advanced" button and change the Com port number to COM 1. Ignore the error message. Re-boot the computer. Check the Device Manager to make sure the USB Serial Port is now set to COM 1.

Stealth Z-Type (S1-Z, S2-Z, S3-Z, HW-Z)

  1. Power - If there is no red light under the mouse, make sure the usb port is an active port. Do not plug into a bus-powered hub. Such hubs do not have enough power for the mouse.
In Windows, go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > USB > Stealth 3D Mouse, and look for problems.
  5. Any Z-Type mouse with serial numbers beginning with '6' may not initialize, or may stop working after a short while. This problem can happen with a brand new mouse, or when a mouse is moved to a different computer. If this happens, the mouse will be repaired at no charge.
